ESSENTIAL OILS

There are a vast variety of essential oils and many have numerous therapeutic properties.  The essential oils used in Theroma candles have been carefully selected to help relieve symptoms of common mental health difficulties that are becoming more profound in today’s society; stress, anxiety and depression. We have also created a candle to aid sleep, using oils with unique sedative and relaxation properties. This is because we know the importance of sleep on our mental health and wellbeing

LAVENDER

Best known for its relaxation and stress relieving properties.

Lavender’s calming scent can help manage anxiety as well as insomnia by reducing restlessness and nervous tension and inducing relaxation.


Used in both our ‘Sweet Dreams’ and ‘Calm Mind’ collections.

ROSE GERANIUM

Geranium essential oil has a natural sedative action which helps you to overcome insomnia and get to sleep.


Geranium also acts as an antidepressant; something which can be key to treating insomnia which tends to holds roots in stress.

PEPPERMINT

Peppermint essential oil promotes emotional health, positivity and healing provide a mood elevating boost.


The uplifting, energizing scent of peppermint oil keeps you alert, helps you concentrate and alleviates feelings of mental fatigue and restlessness.


Used in our Mood Lift Collection.

YLANG YLANG

Derived from flower petals of the tropical ylang ylang tree. Ylang Ylang has a calming and relaxing, floral fragrance. It has been found to calm anxious heart palpitations, lower blood pressure and generally reduce feelings of stress and anxiety.


The sensory agents in Ylang Ylang have a calming effect on the mind and body; soothing an unsettled mind and calming overactive nerves.


Used in ‘our Calm Mind Collection.

CEDARWOOD

Cedarwood essential oil has a lovely woodsy aroma and has a calming and soothing effect on the mind and body, making it a good mood stabilizer.


The oil is also an effective natural sedative. The scent of the oil triggers the release of serotonin in the brain, which is then converted to melatonin which encourages better sleep.

BERGAMOT

Bergamot, a fragrant, sweet and floral citrus fruit. Therapeutic benefits of bergamot include its' ability to help fight feelings of anxiety and depression by promoting the secretion of hormones such as dopamine and serotonin.


It helps to boost energy and happiness, can reduce headaches and relax nervous tension.

Bergamot provides multiple therapeutic benefits and is therefore used in both our Mood Lift and Calm Mind Collections.

ROSEMARY

Rosemary essential oil can act as a mental stimulant, countering low mood and reducing tension and fatigue.


Known to provide clarity and positive energy to enhance and uplift mood.

SWEET ORANGE

Research has shown that inhaling sweet orange essential oil resulted in enhanced relaxation, reduced anxiety and generally a more positive mood. The calming effect of sweet orange essential oil helps to reduce pulse rate and leave you feeling more relaxed. It has also been found to enhance brain function. stimulate the strength and resilience of the immune system and eliminate airborne bacteria.

CINNAMON LEAF

Cinnamon leaf essential oil doesn't just smell amazing, it also has numerous aromatherapy benefits. It is well known for improving mood, promoting stress relief and reducing feelings of depression and exhaustion. If that wasn't enough, it has also been found to offer immune boosting benefits, strengthening immunity against colds and flu. Additionally when then aroma is inhaled it can help ease bronchitis and congestion. It has also been shown to boost energy, brain function and mental focus when used in aromatherapy.
